There's No Place Like Home

When I was a little girl I would watch the Wizard of Oz and see Dorothy tap her red shoes together and say, “There’s No Place Like Home”. I never really understood this statement until I moved 500 miles from my childhood home. After being married a short 9 days, I moved with my husband from Texas to Mississippi to follow God’s calling for our lives. I struggled through most of our first year of marriage because I so badly wanted to tap my red shoes together and say “There’s No Place Like Home” and land back in Texas, but I quickly eventually realized that I had to make my life with my husband home and no matter where life may take us I would always be a Texas girl at heart. I now love where we are at and I know that if I had not followed God’s plan for my life, then things would have been miserable. I have learned over the past 2 years that there is no place like home, but home can be anywhere and can even be in two places. I desire to illustrate that no matter where you live or visit “There’s No Place Like Home”.

  1. I also learned this lesson almost 33 years ago when Ray and I moved to the other end of Mississipi from our parents. I was about 8 months pregnant and felt very alone. God used several special people at that time to help me feel at "home." He also used that time to teach Ray and me how important it was for us to create our own home. Since then we have moved 6 more times to 4 different states. Each place became home because we were together. God will bless your commitment to "cleave to your husband." There truly is "no place like home!"
